Timeless Chocolate

This chocolate filled cake is covered in cooking chocolate, sprinkled with colored chocolate rice and rainbow hearts. It's for a beloved friend...

Fondant-less (my last batch was useless) and out of time (I need to deliver the cake in a few hours)... I gave the cake to Kak Janah for her birthday (which I discovered that it is not in March or April but it is in June) three months in advance! I just felt like baking this morning.

So "Happy Advanced Birthday Kak Janah"...
and I called it a Timeless Chocolate Birthday Cake. Maybe it also represented our friendship, timeless and endless. I hope you love the cake!

A T for Nazri

Although I did not bake and decorate it to a T, I was glad that they liked the chocolate layered cake. The fondant was glued to the cake using a thin layer of chocolate fudge. It was intended to be a red Man U tee shirt (as Nazri is a fan), the red came out as pink and the black as gray. I could have ordered an edible printed logo... Like most things that I did was done in 'quicktime', this cake was prepared the night before it was presented. No smooth-rolled fondant cake, but it was edible! Yummy!

Handbag for Sarah

This Handbag Cake was done a day in advance for Sarah's birthday. The name tag and handle was made with marzipan (hence the visible cracks and rough edges). Eventhough marzipan was not so smooth, it does not tastes as bad due to the presence of almond in sugar (marzipan). A smoother finish was a result of using fondant (more sugar content) for the white outline and 'belt'. I created chocolate fudge for the dark chocolate layer. This Handbag Cake is about 5" x 9".

Birthday Book

This is my first attempt at creating a fondant covered cake. It is an orange cake made to look like a thick book (~ a Dictionary of about 5" x 7"). I called it the Birthday Book and it was created for my sister, nephew and nieces' birthday. This is my first homemade birthday cake. Welcome 2010.
